Keyboard Skills (Level 1 or 2)

Tutor: Dan McVeagh PGCE

Half hour one to one lessons, once a week for about 14 weeks on Thursday afternoons.

You will learn about scales and intervals, major and minor chords on the piano keyboard. By the end of the course you will be able to play a tune using two hands with the correct fingering. The course requires no previous experience. You do not have to read music, but SOME PRACTICE is essential. If you don’t have a keyboard, you can book practice time at Sound Minds.

Film Production (Level 2)

Tutor: Peter Dexter PGCE

2 hours per week for about 14 weeks on Wednesday afternoons.

An overview of the skills and processes involved in filmmaking. Learn about storytelling in film, lighting, camerawork and editing. Includes a chance to join our multi-award winning film team and make a low budget short film for competition.

Film Editing (Level 2)

2 hours per for about 14 weeks on Thursday afternoons

An introduction to editing on Apple Macs using Final Cut Express. Learn the principles of visual story telling and master the basics of this program including importing video from a camera, editing clips together and adding effects and sound.

Ward Visiting in Mental Health (Level 2)

Tutors: Rima Williams and Paul Brewer

3 days over a month plus assignments

A course run by Canerows and Plaits for people wishing to join our friendly team of service users providing regular visits to local inpatient wards.
